Aerosmith, Hard Rock Mega-Group, Dies at 38

AerosmithHere’s a new one. Aerosmith, the hard rock band originally formed in Boston in 1971, has broken up, according to the band’s Web site and an interview given by frontman Steven Tyler to Classic Rock Magazine’s daily blog.

Thirty-eight long years ago, the band formed around the open mawed melodies of Tyler and the powerful licks of guitarist Joe Perry. Through iterations of fame, heroin use, despondency and resurrection, Aerosmith became, and remained, one of the most successful rock acts around.

Tyler unilaterally announced the bands demise after a show at Abu Dhabi’s Grand Prix. Are reports of Aerosmith's demise exaggerated? We'll see.

R.I.P. Aerosmith…
