Spring’s arrival might not be signaled by the weather yet – cold rain and snow linger in the northeast. But for Major League Baseball, summer begins today. Twelve teams are in action, including the New York Yankees, the Atlanta Braves and last year’s champions The San Francisco Giants, marking an exciting, if chilly, Opening day for the 2011 season.

Baseball is a sport bathed in its own sepia-toned nostalgia. Along with the scent of freshly cut grass float the memories of seasons long passed.
