HUEY LONG    1935

Huey Long was a radical politician who enacted populist policies while governor of Louisiana and U.S. Senator in the late 1920s and 1930s. He started a wealth redistribution program called ‘Every man a King’ and fiercely fought for social reforms. Long died on September 10, 1935, two days after being shot.

Mary Wollstonecraft was a British writer and feminist critic whose 1792 tract, The Vindication of the Rights of Woman, was one of the first essays that called for equality between the sexes. Inequality, according to Wollstonecraft, was due to the lack of education for women. She died on September 10, 1797.
